Warm, tender apple slices with cinnamon and brown sugar, ready in 20 minutes using your Instant Pot.

# What goes in:

→ Produce

01 - 6 medium apples (Honeycrisp, Gala, or Fuji), peeled, cored, and sliced into 1/2-inch wedges

→ Sweeteners

02 - 1/3 cup brown sugar (light or dark)
03 - 2 tablespoons maple syrup or honey (optional)

→ Liquids

04 - 1/4 cup water or apple juice

→ Spices

05 - 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
06 - 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional)
07 - 1 pinch salt

→ Other

08 - 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
09 - 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

# Cooking steps:

01 - Peel, core, and slice the apples into 1/2-inch wedges for even cooking.
02 - Place apple slices in the Instant Pot. Sprinkle brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg if using, and salt over the top.
03 - Drizzle with maple syrup or honey if desired, then add the water or apple juice.
04 - Distribute the butter pieces evenly across the apples.
05 - Close the lid and set to sealing. Cook on high pressure for 2 minutes.
06 - Allow natural pressure release for 3 minutes, then carefully quick-release any remaining pressure.
07 - Open the lid and stir in vanilla extract. For thicker syrup, use Sauté mode and simmer a few minutes, stirring gently.
08 - Serve warm over oatmeal, pancakes, or ice cream, or enjoy on its own.

# Tips from flavorandfeast:

01 -
  • Transforms ordinary apples into something special in under 30 minutes
  • The Instant Pot creates perfectly tender slices without turning them into mush
  • Makes enough for multiple meals throughout the week
02 -
  • Natural release time is crucial, skipping it leads to unevenly cooked apples
  • Overcooking turns this into applesauce, which is delicious but not what we are going for
03 -
  • Use apple juice instead of water for an extra layer of apple flavor
  • Do not skip the butter, it is what creates that glossy, restaurant-quality finish
