→ Coating & Frying

02 - 2 tbsp all-purpose flour (or gluten-free alternative)
03 - 2 tbsp olive oil

→ Topping

04 - 2 tbsp honey
05 - 1 tbsp toasted pistachios or walnuts, roughly chopped
06 - 1 tsp fresh thyme leaves (or mint), chopped
07 - Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

# Cooking steps:

01 - Slice the halloumi into 0.4 inch thick pieces and pat dry with paper towels.
02 - Lightly dust each slice with flour, shaking off any excess.
03 - Heat olive oil in a nonstick skillet over medium-high heat.
04 - Fry the halloumi slices for 2–3 minutes on each side, until golden and crispy.
05 - Arrange the fried halloumi on a serving plate.
06 - Drizzle warm honey over the cheese, sprinkle with toasted nuts and fresh herbs. Finish with a little black pepper if desired.
07 - Serve immediately while hot.

# Tips from flavorandfeast:

01 -
  • The salty crunch of the cheese pairs perfectly with the sweet sticky honey.
  • It comes together in less time than it takes to pour a glass of wine.
02 -
  • Halloumi releases water as it cooks so keep the heat high enough to evaporate it quickly.
  • Make sure to serve this immediately because the texture changes drastically as it cools down.
03 -
  • Warm your honey slightly in the microwave for a thinner consistency that drizzles easier.
  • Toast your nuts in a dry pan for a few minutes to release their natural oils before chopping.
