03 - 1/2 teaspoon salt

04 - 1 lb ground turkey
05 - 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
06 - 2 cloves garlic, minced
07 - 1/2 onion, diced
08 - 1 tablespoon soy sauce
09 - 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
10 - 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
11 - 1 teaspoon sriracha (optional, for heat)

→ Bang Bang Sauce

12 - 1/2 cup mayonnaise
13 - 2 tablespoons sweet chili sauce
14 - 1 tablespoon sriracha
15 - 1 teaspoon honey
16 - 1 teaspoon lime juice

→ Toppings & Vegetables

17 - 1 cup shredded carrots
18 - 1 cup thinly sliced cucumber
19 - 1/2 cup thinly sliced red cabbage
20 - 2 green onions, sliced
21 - 1 tablespoon sesame seeds

# Cooking steps:

01 - Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear. In a medium saucepan, combine rice, water, and salt. Bring to a boil, cover, reduce heat to low, and simmer for 15 minutes. Remove from heat and let stand, covered, for 5 minutes. Fluff with a fork.
02 - While the rice cooks, heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add diced onion and sauté for 2 to 3 minutes until softened. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute. Add ground turkey, breaking it up with a spatula, and cook until browned and cooked through, about 5 to 7 minutes.
03 - Add soy sauce, hoisin sauce, black pepper, and sriracha (if using) to the turkey. Cook for another 2 minutes, stirring to coat evenly. Remove from heat.
04 - In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, sriracha, honey, and lime juice until smooth. Adjust spiciness to taste.
05 - Divide rice evenly among 4 bowls. Top each with cooked ground turkey, shredded carrots, cucumber, red cabbage, and green onions. Drizzle generously with Bang Bang sauce and sprinkle with sesame seeds.

# Tips from flavorandfeast:

01 -
  • The bang bang sauce is that magical combination of sweet, spicy, and tangy that makes everything it touches taste like a restaurant dish.
  • Ground turkey cooks fast and absorbs flavor beautifully, making this perfect for busy weeknights when you still want something satisfying.
  • It is completely customizable, so picky eaters and adventurous ones can sit at the same table happily.
  • You probably have most of the ingredients in your kitchen right now.
02 -
  • Do not skip rinsing the rice or you will end up with gummy, clumpy grains that ruin the texture of the entire bowl.
  • Let the turkey sit undisturbed for the first minute of cooking so it actually browns instead of steaming in its own moisture.
03 -
  • Toasting the sesame seeds in a dry pan for sixty seconds transforms them from a garnish into something genuinely nutty and aromatic.
  • Make the bang bang sauce first so it has time to sit and develop its full flavor while you cook everything else.
